The Office for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education (MSTE) is a division of the College of Education at the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The goal of MSTE is to serve as a model-builder for innovative, standards-based,
technology-intensive mathematics and science instruction at the K-16 levels. The Office serves as a campus-wide catalyst for
integrative teaching and learning in mathematics, science, and technology education.
Support for MSTE comes from Partnership Illinois and other granting agencies for specific projects. These agencies include the
Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the United States Department of Education
(ED). MSTE activities include workshops around the state of Illinois, the design and development of courses in the use of
technology in mathematics instruction, and maintaining the MSTE Web site. Currently, the MSTE Web site, which is the nexus for
MSTE activities, attracts over six million hits and nearly five hundred thousand user sessions each month.
Some of the things MSTE provides: online resources, an annual
summer math camp, and many physical resources such as TI graphing calculators,
Lab Pros, etc.
