Course Design
This course is designed to provide hands-on instruction and application of technologies which support the student's developing professional and classroom practice. The emphasis will be on depth of experience and project based learning. Consequently each class period will consist of general instruction focused on the basic uses and applications of a given technology and the remainder will focus on the application of the given technology to individual and group projects. Readings will be used to frame and support the student's understanding and use of the given technology. The goal is to provide technology support for enhancing the student’s developing teaching practice.
Course Technology Core
- Take part in an electronic classroom community via the class website.
- Utilize a paperless classroom (Electronic submission of assignments and document sharing.)
- Effectively use spreadsheets as a tool for managing classroom information, instruction, and communicating/sharing information.
- Utilize the web as a teaching and instructional resource. (Lesson plans, readings, teaching tools, etc.)
- Design web pages for electronically sharing student designed unit plans and teaching resources.
- Explore formats for electronic document sharing (PDF, etc)
- Reflect and begin articulating a personal philosophy of technology’s role in the classroom.
