22. Steps to follow during cylinder head
service:
- Scrape and degrease cylinder head.
- Visual inspection (check for cracks).
- Remove accessories from cylinder head.
- Use number punches to identify valve location.
- Place valves and valve train parts in a numbered
holder.
- Clean and wire wheel combustion chambers and
cylinder head.
- Clean and wire wheel valves.
- Measure valve guides and valve stems and record
measurements.
- Degrease disassembled heads.
- Inspect all valve train parts for wear.
- Machine valves and seats.
- Measure installed height.
- Pressure check springs.
- Begin reassembly.
- Check head for warpage.
- Check valve spring squareness.
