What's my Project Handin username/password? |
|
Your UserName and password are formed by taking your NetID and adding 302 onto the beginning of it. For example, if your NetID is mmckelve, then your username and password are 302mmckelve.
Be sure to check the students page to get your UserName. This is especially important if you don't have a University NetID. In that case, we assigned you a UserName, and you'll need to check the students page to find out what it is. Note that all lower case characters are used! Also, once you log in, you have the option to change your password, so if you'd like to keep your files secure, then feel free to change it. | |

How do I use project hand-in? |
| To upload a file, make sure you're in the right folder and click the "Browse..." button. Locate the file to upload on your computer and select it. Click the "Open" button (it's not actually opening the file, it just says that). The file name and path should now appear in the textbox to the left of the browse button. All that's left is to upload the file by clicking the "Upload" button. The page will refresh, the file will be copied to our server, and it should appear in the file listing.
At some point, you may want to create a directory structure for your site. It's not necessary, but can help to organize your files. If you've ever worked with files on your computer before, you may recognize it from there. It's essentially the same thing. You can create a folder by entering the folder name in the textbox to the left of the "Create Folder" button and then proceeding to click the "Create Folder" button. You can enter a folder by clicking the button with that folder's name on it in the file listing. You can see what folder you're in by looking at the URL listed a little ways down the page. To the left of the URL is a "home" button, which takes you back to your main directory, and an "Up One Level" button, which takes you up a level from the folder you're currently in. If you create folders within folders, then you will probably want to use this at some point. Deleting a file: this is a very dangerous option. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN DELETING FILES! If you delete something on accident, there is no way of retrieving it, unless we happen to have it backed up. How do I change my password? |
|
You have the option to change your password if you want a little more security in your folder. Once you've
logged in to the Project Handin, look in the upper right hand corner of the page and you'll see a link that says
"Change Password." Click on this and you will be taken to a password change page, where you must type in your old
password and then the new one you want to change it to. Assuming you type your old password in correctly, your
new password will be set. It should be ready for use immediately, so the next time you log in to the Project
Handin site, use your new password.
