	How do I download and install programs from the internet?
	The basic process is the same for all setup files you'll download from the internet. Bear in mind that these instructions are written for Windows machines; however, the concepts carry over to the Mac environment too. The first step is downloading the file from the internet. You will have to navigate through a few pages to figure out exactly which version you need for some of the files before you can actually download the setup file. Once you have accomplished this, go ahead and click on the link to download the file. A window will pop up asking you whether you want to "Run this program from its current location" or "Save this program to disk." You want to Save the program. Next, select where to save it on your computer, and remember where you put it. The desktop is usually handy for this purpose. Once the file has downloaded, you'll want to begin the setup by double-clicking on the file. From this point on, the process is just like any other program you've ever installed.
	Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0
	Download Acrobat (This program is not necessary for this class, but it's a good one to have) If you follow the link above, you'll be taken to a page where you need to answer a few questions before you can download Acrobat Reader. You only need to select your platform. If you really want to send them your name and e-mail address, you can, but it's optional. Once you've selected your Platform in Step 1, click the Download button in Step 3, and save the file to your disk. Once it's done saving, double-click the icon, and it will begin the installation process.
	Microsoft FrontPage 2002
	Download FrontPage (30 Day Trial for $9.95) An evaluation version of FrontPage 2002 is available for download from Microsoft's website. If you have Windows 98, you already have FrontPage Express, so don't bother with FrontPage 2002; however, if you have a different operating system, you may want to download the trial version of FrontPage 2002. Be aware that you are actually ordering a CD to be delivered to you, not downloading a file over the internet. Instructions for finding FrontPage Express on Windows 98: Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to Internet Tools, and then click FrontPage Express. If you do not see FrontPage Express on the menu, you can download version 2.0 by going to the Windows Update site. You'll find it under Internet Authoring in Product Updates.
	Netscape Composer
	Download Netscape 4.79 You will need to select your operating system and the version of the program you want (the latest version, presumably). You will also be given the option between the base and the complete packages. You will want to choose complete. Base would only install the browser (communicator), but not the html editor (composer). You should end up at a page that has a button saying "Download it now." Click that button to go to a page that will give you the option to download with or without SmartDownload. SmartDownload can be useful if you have a poor internet connection--it can pick up your download where it left off should you get disconnected. It can be a hassle, though, and sometimes it's just easier not to use it. If you want to download the Netscape 4 installation file with SmartDownload, click the download button, and SmartDownload will be installed on your system too. Otherwise, you have the option at the bottom of the screen to download without SmartDownload. You will want to save the program to disk, when it gives you the option. Once the file has finished downloading, open it and start the installation.
	Download Netscape 6 You will need to select your operating system and the version of the program you want (the latest version, presumably). You should end up at a page that has a button saying "Download it now." Click that button to start downloading the installation file. You will want to save the program to disk, when it gives you the option. Once the file has finished downloading, open it and start the installation. Note: Netscape Composer comes as part of the Netscape package, so don't fret that it says you're downloading Netscape Communicator or Netscape 6; that's what you want.
	QuickTime 5
	Download QuickTime Go to Apple's site via the link above. You will be taken to a page where you can fill in your email address and first and last name, and select your operating system. Once you've filled in all this information, click the Download QuickTime button, and the download process will begin. It will probably ask you whether you want to download and install "QuickTime Installer." Go ahead and click Yes to install QuickTime. QuickTime installation will begin.

Technical Difficulties

I can't view the videos in QuickTime. What should I do?

First, make sure you've downloaded the latest version of QuickTime for the platform you're using (Mac/PC). If it's still not working, email me and tell me exactly what happens when you try to watch a video. Please tell me about any error messages you get, and what seems to go wrong. The more descriptive you are, the more likely that I'll be able to help you. Be as eloquent as you like, just so you adequately describe the problem.
