Applying the Investigative Approach : Developing an Electronic Lesson Plan
Goals/Rationale:Briefly describe the general rationale for teaching your lesson.
Focus Content Area: Please identify the the one or two major concepts and skills which you will target with your lesson.
Target Grade Level(s): Please identify the grade level(s) for which  your lesson is best suited.
NCTM Standard(s) Addressed: Please identify the content standard and the process standard which your lesson addresses.  Provide a brief rationale explaining how your lesson addresses these standards. (note: Please provide specific links to the grade level standards which are addressed.)
ISBE Standard(s) Addressed: Please identify the standards which your lesson addresses.  Provide a brief rationale explaining how your lesson addresses these standards. (note: Please provide specific links to the grade level standards which are addressed.)
Setting/Context/Problem: Describe the meaningful problem your lesson will use as its framework.  Think about the  activities we did in class.  Each of those lessons provided  a meaningful purpose for exploring and learning the target mathematics' concepts. There are many children's books which also can be utilized to provide a meaningful problem framework. . (Example 1), (Example 2), ( Example 3)
Materials/Resources: List out all the necessary resources needed to teach your lesson.  A teacher should be able to look at this list and know exactly what he or she needs to teach your lesson.  This materials list should include any worksheets, handouts, etc. which your students will be using during the lesson.  Links should be provided directly to the needed materials, i.e. if there is a handout a student needs I can go to the appropriate link and print out the needed handout.  Also links should be provided for any electronic resources or tools needed.  (Note: Your lesson needs to include at least one student handout, an applicable web resource or tool, and a physical manipulative.)
Instructional Procedure: Identify the major steps/components of your lesson.  Utilize this section to really think through and plan the flow of your lesson. What things need to be included in your lesson for it to be successful?
Assessment:  How will you determine if your students were able to make sense out of the ideas presented in your lesson?  Briefly describe your assessment plan.
Adaptations:  Please describe how you would adapt your lesson for a student with learning difficulties.  Include a description of your target student's learning difficulties, the adaptations/modifations you would make, and your rationale for making these adaptations.
Extensions: Where might you go with this lesson?  What type of things might you do with your students following this lesson?  Activities? Projects?  In one or two paragraphs briefly describe some possible extensions.
