Goals:

• Find Useful Data on the Internet that you would want to graph
• Download and Install Graph Link software
• Use GraphLink to Transfer that Data to the Calculator
• Analyze the data with the calculator (graph it)
• Send the graphs back to the Computer for printing or use in web pages

Materials:

• TI Calculator (82/83/85/86/89/92)-83 focus in this tutorial
• TI-Graph Link (~30 Dollars) thru ti.com or at Staples
• Internet Browser (IE or Netscape)
• Text Editor (Simple Text-Mac, Notepad-PC)

Procedure:

1. Download Graph Link and Save to Desktop
2. Install Graph Link by double-clicking on the new icon (May need to restart)
3. Run Graph Link
4. Start Internet Browser (keep graphlink open)
5. Find Data on Internet or use the demo data here
6. Copy a dataset (Highlight and copy)
7. Paste into Notepad and arrange in vertical line
8. Save to desktop or floppy disk as namedata.txt
9. Go to Graph Link and choose Tools....Import....from ASCII data and locate the file (namedata.txt) that you just saved.
10. Import as a List (L1, L2, L3, or L4, etc....)
11. Then choose send...from the Link menu...choose the file you just made....
12. as send it to the TI calculator
13. Analyze, and Graph it
14. Then choose get screen from TI Graphlink and save the picture of the graph onto the desktop or the floppy disk.
