C&I 241:
Getting in the frame of mind...

Time to start thinking about the upcoming semester!

I hope that each of you had a great semester break and holiday season. I am sure that you are well-prepared to begin the semester. To get you back in the frame of mind...

In your group, identify a conversation leader, a recorder, a reporter, and a watchdog. Discuss each of the following briefly.

What was the most relaxing thing that you did over break?

What was the best thing that you did over break?

What, if anything, did you do over the break specifically to prepare for this semester?

What is your biggest fear/concern about practice teaching?

What are you most confident about the upcoming semester, i.e., what is your biggest strength for this task?

What was the major quality that made your favorite (math) teacher your favorite?

Likewise, what made your least favorite (math) teacher your least favorite?

What is your top priority goal in practice teaching this semester? Try to be as specific as possible, i.e., in what area do you desire to make the greatest strides?

The reporter should be prepared to point out the most interesting tidbits of each question. I will ask the group to report on a suset of the above questions.
