C & I 241:
Topics and Reading Assignments

(Warning: This page is still under construction...look out for dangling steel beams!)

This page will serve as the outline for the course. The topics for class discussion/activities will evolve as the course develops and your needs in practice teaching emerge, but the outline of topics provided below will serve as a beginning framework. We will attempt to make any modifications in the class sessions/reading assignments by at least one week in advance so that you can plan accordingly.

Important Note: R & R Time

Each week, the last fifteen to twenty minutes (approx. 7:30-7:50) will be reserved for time to reflect on your practice teaching experiences and solicit both advice & assistance from your team members in squad99. We refer to this time as "R & R" which stands for "Reaction & Resolution."

This is a time where you can bring both the good things and the frustrations of practice teaching to each other and solicit support. You need a positive environment in which to do so. We cannot allow this to denigrate into a "moan'n'groan" session--it is too important a time for that. We all need an arena where we can share successes and work through problems. Moreover, we all need to continue learning how to do that in a constructive fashion. We insist that this time be used in a constructive fashion, and that you offer each other venting time OUTSIDE of class.
