Mathematics Materials for Teachers of Teachers (M2T2)

Author of a grant for $280,000 to create teacher training materials in middle school mathematics. A team of 30 mathematics teachers, mathematicians, mathematics education researchers, Illinois State Board personnel and MSTE staff worked together to create the materials. The team included a Presidential Awardee for mathematics teaching and the president-elect of the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The grant was from March 10, 2000 to June 30, 2000. The materials created are available in Acrobat format at http://www.mste.uiuc.edu/m2t2/. Follow-up proposal for $180,000 was awarded on December 4, 2000. The M2T2: Phase 2 project took place between January 1, 2001 and June 30, 2001. It expanded the materials to include administrators and created a Web site for the Illinois Statewide Mathematics Initiative. A third year of the award was funded on November 1, 2001 for $200,000. The total award for this project was $760,000.

Partnership Illinois Sustaining Grant Application

Co-wrote grant application to continue support and expand an on-line curriculum development project. Grant proposal was awarded $60,000 in July 1999.

SBC/Ameritech Grant Proposal

Proposed a "scalable model for teacher development". Requested $100,000 to create teacher workshops to train Mid-western teachers in the use of technology in their curricula. The grant proposal emphasized partnership with existing institutions and expansion of work by the MSTE Office. The proposal has been funded from July 2000 through June 2002.
